I take it with me everywhere, and whenever I have a few minutes to kill (waiting for a meeting to start, or waiting for my girlfriend to get ready to go out, or whatever), I'm able to get through a couple of pages. I'm trying to decide if I should read Washington and Hamilton's biographies, even though I don't like them, or move straight ahead to Madison. There are more books that I want to read than I'll ever have time for... The Kindle definitely makes it easier. I haven't had time for a book in a while. We took in Monticello two summers ago. The tour is excellent, and it's not that far of a drive down Rt. 15. Given your recent readings, I'd recommend "The Election of 1800" which ties together the relationship of Adams and Jefferson.
